Daytons buy building next to Bachelor Farmer
// By Sarah McKenzie //
NORTH LOOP — Eric and Andrew Dayton, owners of the hot spots The Bachelor Farmer and Marvel Bar — have purchased a neighboring building to their property — a three-story building known as the Historic Hennepin Hotel.
There are no specific plans for the property yet, according to a news release about the purchase. Prisma International, the former owner, will remain a tenant for the rest of the year.
“We’re thrilled to be deepening our commitment to the North Loop neighborhood with this acquisition,” said Andrew Dayton. “It’s a terrific complement to our current property and presents us with a number of exciting business opportunities.”
The Dayton brothers bought the warehouse at North 1st Street & 2nd Avenue North now home to The Bachelor Farmer, Marvel Bar and men’s clothing store Askov Finlayson in 2008. In September they will be honored with a 2012 Minnesota Preservation Award from the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota for restoration work on the building.
